The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored very well in our tests on floors that were bare They are also adept in cleaning hair from dogs. However, they do have some flaws that prevent them from being our top choice. For one, the Q5's navigation system does not feature AI-powered obstacle avoidance technology which means it's susceptible to become entangled in shoes and socks and can't navigate tightly packed rooms very well in our tests. It doesn't also come with a camera to look around corners.
It's still a good deal for those whose office or home has a lot of unfinished floors and you're looking to save some money. It's also very quiet and operates while you're at work or in school. It doesn't have the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming offered in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. robotic hoovers 's also less effective at mopping, as it relies on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on for long and don't take on dried-on debris. The Q5 has self-emptying docks, however. If you're in need of it, the mopping pad can be changed for an awe-inspiring one in a matter of minutes.

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact sleek and stylish vacuum cleaner that also has the ability to mop floors. Its nimble navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it simple to clean and efficient at dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also features an impressive suction system and an automatic bin for emptying. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, though it lags behind some competitors in deep cleaning.
This top-performing mop and vacuum combination uses advanced sensor technology to dodge obstacles and pet waste and it will learn the layout of your home over time to ensure more efficient cleaning. The app lets you set up zones and modify the cleaning schedule. Its battery life is average when compared to other models.

It's a little more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but offers superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can even clean the floor after vacuuming, a feature that we haven't seen in other robotic vacuum/mop combos.
3. iRobot Roomba X40
This mop and vacuum combination has a sleek, circular look that looks more like the regular Roomba unit than the boxy models of the rivals. It's one of our most attractive robot vacuums. The newest model from iRobot happens to be its smartest model, with features that are cutting-edge like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads).
It's also the only robotic vacuum/mop to score a perfect 10 out of 10 in our evaluations. This is due to a combination modern sensors, including a restructured lighting system, a camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that can fully autonomously refill and empty its base station and it boasts industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.
Like other iRobot models like the X40 is user-friendly, offering a simple mobile app interface and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, and Google Assistant. The only drawback is that the X40 is still a noisy unit. This can be a problem in mornings prior to work or during the night when you're trying to fall asleep.
It's also a bit expensive, though it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 MaxV Ultra Both of which are equally powerful and look better. This is a two-in-one vacuum that's very capable however, it will cost you more and create more noise.
iRobot L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop with many advanced features to help you get rid of your chores. Like Ecovacs range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that can take charge of both mopping and vacuuming, with a multifunction dock that automatically empties the vacuum's trash bin, refills its water tank, washes and dries its mop pads.
The smart robot uses the combination of LIDAR and structured light to create floor plans and spot obstacles, making it more efficient than some of its premium rivals. It also has a camera mounted on the front to detect hazards in real-time, although this wasn't quite foolproof in our testing and was often confused by power cords or other obstructions.
Its vacuum has a high maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to finish the job. It also has an attribute known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas in the home based on how dirty the areas are.
If you own a larger home, you should consider selecting a robot that comes with spot or zone cleaning mode. This allows you to inform the robot of which area of your home must be cleaned by using the app or voice control. If you have a lot of furniture, a stairway mode is also a good option. Also, a recharge and resume feature that lets your robot vacuum pick up right where it left off is ideal for busy families.
5. iRobot Roomba RX3
The RX3 is more advanced than its price suggests. It vacuums well, picking up 55% debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using one pad that has a reciprocating motion, which is cleaner than the other robot mop cleaners we've tried. And it's highly self-sufficient with a fully-featured app as well as an auto-emptying, washable base.
The well-designed iRobot application guides you through an initial mapping run that gathers information about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you have marked on the map. It can be used to make cleaning schedules, plan the perfect spot for cleaning or prioritize your most filthy rooms to improve performance. The app also grants access to many features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.
It is also able to reach corners and under furniture more easily because its shape is more rectangular. It also has a powerful suction of 8,000 Pascal suction and combs that are intelligent for hair of pets. You can also set up a spot cleaning that intensely cleans a localized area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and more affordable alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras look like cute eyes. It does a good job vacuuming, but is more prone to be caught by low thresholds and is more noisy than the other top robot vacuums we've tried. It also has an app that's not as intuitive, and a smaller base station that can't double as a bin to empty.
